The town of Adare is reportedly Ireland's prettiest village with it's thatched cottages and historical features. Sights include several antique shops of which George Stackpoole, President of the Irish Antique Dealers Association, is the most noted. Michelina Stackpoole designs and sells ladies fashions. The Adare Manor Hotel which was once the home of the Earls of Dunraven. The Adare Heritage Centre. Adare Castle and Abbey.

DINGLE:

Dingle is approximately a 2 hour drive from Glin. The trip can take   you over the Conor Pass with some of the most wonderful scenery. It   is also the gateway to the Dingle Peninsular and the coast drive past   Slea Head. we suggest traveling the peninsular in the anti clockwise direction so as to avoid the direction taken by tour buses. The Beehive huts, crafts and potteries are along the route. Dingle is a fishing town and there are several renowned seafood restaurants in the location. Another feature is the oratory at Galluras and Siopa na Literacha which sells Irish literature.

TOURING:

The Cliffs of Moher 90 minutes including car ferry.
The Burren Limestone Landscape 2 hours including car ferry.
Ailwee Caves Co Clare 2 hours including car ferry.
Seaside town of Lahinch 90 minutes including car ferry
Kilrush Marina / Dolphin watching 45 minutes including car ferry
Loop Head is just beyond Kilrush

The above are all along the beautiful coastal drive to Galway. Galway city would be approximately a 2 - 21/2 hour drive.

Cahir and the Rock of Cashel then over the Vee into the Blackwater Valley. 2 hours.
A 90 minute drive would take you to Ennis with it's priory and Quinn Abbey.
A 70 minute drive would take you to Killarney and the lakes and mountains. Boat trips on the lakes, rides in the jaunting cars are attractions.


Scattery Island is situated in the mouth of the Shannon. Boat trips to the Island depart from Kilrush. Scattery now uninhabited has Napoleonic forts, ruined churches and round towers.

The market town of Listowel is a 25 minute drive from Glin. There is a Heritage Centre and also St. John's which holds evening entertainment as well as traditional music nights.

Tralee is a 45 minute drive from Glin. Attractions include:
Geraldine Experience. Kerry the Kingdom.
Ratoo Heritage Complex.
Blennerville Steam Railway from Tralee to the Blennerville Windmill.
The Rose of Tralee Festival is on during the last week in August.
Walking in North Kerry. Information from Tralee Tourist Office.

For more the more sophisticated fisher person there is the Blackwater Valley with renowned salmon fishing Deep sea fishing trips depart from Kilrush. A new service has been introduced from Tarbert just 4 miles from Glin.
Up to 8 passengers may take a boat trip for whale watching, deep sea fishing or evening cruises on the Shannon Estuary.
